Woman Failing to Scan Groceries Arrested

LIBERTY, November 26, 2014 - At 8:12 PM on Tuesday a woman was self checking her groceries and failed to scan all the items.

After scanning some of them she passed by all points of sale and did not pay for $268.91 of misc. grocery items and was confronted when she left the store.

She abandoned the items and took off running across the parking lot into the wooded area on the SH 146 Bypass in front of the store parking lot.

Officer Hebert with the City of Liberty Police Department found the woman identified as Tammy Sue McKeand age 50 of Dayton, and pulled her out of the woods.

McKeand was arrested for Theft of Property and Organized Retail Theft and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
