Our speaker for March is Paul McKneely. His presentation will "Straddling Wallace's Line: A Birding Experience on the Indonesian Islands of Bali and Lombok"
Paul McKneely began birding in the 1970's when a college student. He received a BS in zoology from Texas A&M and did graduate work in biology at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. When he started using computers to gather data on his lizard research subjects he realized that computer science might be a better fit as a career choice. He is now into embedded programming, electronics design, and computer-aided music composition and animation/visual effects. Most recently he has been involved with a Houston Indy Film-making group and is in the pre-production stages for a full-featured science fiction film.
Paul introduced Madeline to birding when they met in the late 1980's. Madeline is a CPA with no formal education in the sciences, but she took to birding like a fish to water. She always loved to travel, so now they bird the world together, having traveled to Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia and Latin America. Their most recent trip was to Vietnam and Laos and are planning a trip to Madagascar. Paul and Madeline are members of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology and have enjoyed attending five of their annual meetings.
