Merchandise from Wal-Mart Theft Pawned

LIBERTY, July 25, 2014 - On June 19, 2014 the City of Liberty Police Department was contacted by Wal-Mart concerning a theft that had occurred in the store.

A male and female come in to the store and selected computer tablets and concealed them. The pair checked out of the store but did not pay for the tablet computers around 1:00 AM in the morning.

The tablet computers were pawned at the Cash America Pawn Shop in Liberty and the serial numbers were entered into a database that is accessed by law enforcement.

Police conducted a search for those serial numbers in the database and were able to locate the tablet computers at the pawn shop.

Wal-Mart provided surveillance images and the serial numbers for the tablets and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Trent Allen Mamerow age 36 of Liberty on June 15, 2014.

A seizure hearing was held and the Judge awarded the pawned tablets back to Wal-Mart as is was their property.

Police then received information that Mamerow was at a residence in Liberty and drove to the address where he was arrested for Theft of Property with two or more previous convictions and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Mamerow’s bond was set at $10,000 dollars.
