Brenda McManus Jones Announces Candidacy for District Clerk

LIBERTY, February 13, 2014 - Brenda McManus Jones, Director of the Liberty County Personal Bond Supervision Department, announced today that she will be a candidate for the Republican nomination for Liberty County District Clerk.  Brenda is a lifelong resident of Liberty County along with her children, Rob Jones and his wife Amber, Lacy Jones and Abby Jones, she is also the daughter of former Liberty County District Clerk Joy Kay McManus.  Brenda says "I have a very special relationship and interest in the office of District Clerk.  As many of you know, I grew up around the courthouse, and know the high standards that were set many years ago by my mother during her tenure as District Clerk.  The courts, attorneys, law enforcement personnel as well as the citizens of Liberty County deserve those same high standards be respected and maintained. I have a plan to restore the integrity and efficiency that the office demands."

Jones added, "In January 2012, I came to work for Liberty County in the Bond Supervision Department and was later appointed director of the department by Judges Chap B. Cain, Mark Morefield, Thomas A. Chambers and Craig McNair.  While working daily in all courtrooms with the judges, prosecutors, attorneys, law enforcement, defendants and their families, I have gained a wealth of knowledge regarding the judicial system and its interaction with the District Clerk's office. I have served two terms on the grand jury and was selected as foreperson my last term.  Serving in this capacity has given me the experience and understanding of the grand jury process and the heavy burden crime imposes on our judicial system.  I have immense respect for the men and women who tirelessly work to bring justice to all."

Jones concluded, "If elected, I will give the good people of Liberty County the professional and efficient service they have rightfully come to expect from the office of Liberty County District Clerk.   I am asking all the citizens of Liberty County for their vote and support in the March 4, 2014 Republican primary and I am looking forward to meeting you personally, shaking your hand and asking for your vote."
