Crosby Man Flees from Police

LIBERTY, September 11, 2014 – Around 2:00 AM on Wednesday morning the City of Liberty Police Department received a call in regards to a theft at the Liberty Wal-Mart. While in route to the call Officers learned that the suspect had gotten into a gold, Chevy Impala.

As Officer approached the parking lot they saw the Impala leaving and activated their lights and siren. The vehicle did not stop and Officer began a pursuit.

The Officer had to terminate their pursuit when the vehicle ran through the crossing arms which were down due to an approaching train at the railroad tracks.

A Liberty County SO Deputy later spotted the vehicle and began the pursuit again.

The vehicle became disabled and the driver exited the vehicle and ran on foot near the intersection of Milam and Cos Street in Liberty.

Around 6:00 AM Wednesday morning the police received a call about a man on US 90  at the Trinity River Bridge. The man matched the description of the subject that fled on foot.

The man, identified as James Risner Hoey age 17 of Crosby, was detained and a warrant was issued by Judge Mike Little for Fleeing or Evading in a Motor Vehicle. He was arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
