Can You Give Me Ride?

LIBERTY, June 4, 2014 - On Saturday, May 31, 2014, around 5:30 PM, the City of Liberty Police Department responded to a call from Wal-Mart concerning a shoplifter in the parking lot.

When Officers arrived, Bertha Hines was trying to leave the parking lot by asking people for a ride.

According to Wal-Mart Asset Protection Hines had taken 71 food items, 12 clothing items and one can of roach spray from the store without paying for them. The total value of the goods was $367.73.

According to Jennifer Bowles of the Liberty Police Department, Hines, while in the store had placed the items in shopping bags and went to the self check out area purchasing a few items. She then exited the store.

She was stopped by asset protection and could not verify the purchase of the items she had in her possession.

Hines was arrested for Theft with 2 previous convictions and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Hines has an arrest record in Liberty County for Theft, Traffic Offenses and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
