Two Arrested in Layl’s Subdivision
LIBERTY, November 7, 2014 - On November 4, 2014 around 1:00 PM in the afternoon an Officer with the City of Liberty Police Department was dispatched to the Layl’s Subdivision to attempt to locate tow subjects due to a woman calling the department and stating she was in an auto accident.
The woman was not cooperative with the dispatcher and was unable to provide the location of her accident.
Officers arrived in the area and observed a vehicle fitting the description involved in a hit a run accident and was attempting to turn onto Layl Drive.
Officers made contact with both subject in the vehicle and each had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
The driver was James Douglas age 48 who was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated, Second Offense.
Douglas’s female passenger was Slonika Chapman age 29. She was taken into custody for Public Intoxication.
Both were transported to the Liberty County Jail.
