Man Injured in Dog Attack on Milam Street
LIBERTY, March 26, 2014 - Around 3:30 PM on Wednesday an American Bully Dog attacked a man at 946 Milam Street in Liberty.
Liberty Police and EMS responded to help the injured man and capture the dog.
The owner of the dog, Kennard Hughes keeps several dogs in his back yard and employs Benjamin Cornell age 34 to clean their pens where the dogs are kept.
While cleaning the dog’s pen the American Bully, named KUSH, (KUSH is the common name for synthetic marijuana) attacked Benjamin Cornell sending him running out of the back yard and leaving the gate open and the dog got free.
Police were able to capture the dog and place it in the rear of a patrol car. The dog will be kept at the City of Liberty Animal Shelter for a period of ten days for observation.
A telephone man was working on a telephone box in the area and the commotion quickly put him back in his truck.
Liberty Ambulance transported the Benjamin Cornell to Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
According to Police once at the hospital Cornell suffered injuries to his right index finger, a laceration on his left cheek and under his chin and was diagnosed to need stitches.
