Traffic Stop Results in Drug Arrest

CLEVELAND, February 21, 2014 - On Thursday, February 20th at around noon, a Liberty County Sheriff Department’s Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Hwy. 59 and Hwy. 105 in North Liberty County. Circumstances of the driver’s actions and changing explanations as to why he was in Texas while living in Lakevillage, Arkansas led to a complete search of the vehicle. During the search the Deputy found over 1000 tabs of the drug “Ecstasy” bundled and duct taped hidden in a “boom box” in the rear of the vehicle.

Tommy L. Vaughns, DOB 10-11-80 from Lakevillage, Arkansas was arrested and charged with “Manufacture and Distribution of a Controlled Substance” which is a first degree Felony. He was placed in the Liberty County jail and awaits his appearance before a Judge this morning.  Vaughns is presently on Parole from Arkansas for “Distribution of Cocaine” .

It is estimated the street value of the “K-Pacs” of over 1000 Ecstasy tabs is over $5000,00.
