This year’s program will include patriotic music by Commander James B. Sterling, III. and his band and a special program “An Instrument of War” presented by guest speaker, Ray Cox of Humble, Texas. The program focuses on a day in the life of a Revolutionary War soldier and how it was completely governed by the fife/drum signals that regulated their day. Attendees will be treated to a gourmet lunch with all of the trimmings, drawings and door prizes in addition to the history and commemoration of America’s most important document. September 17-23 is one of our country’s least known official observations. Our Constitution stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties and freedom and to ensure those inalienable rights to every American.
The tradition of celebrating the Constitution was started many years ago by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In 1955, the Daughters petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 to be dedicated annually to the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U. S. Congress and signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Join the Libertad Chapter and celebrate the Constitution on September 20th, 11:00 a.m. at the Magnolia Ridge Country Club!
