Libertad Chapter NSDAR announces American History Essay Contest Winners

LIBERTY, April 7, 2014 - Thursday, March 19, 2014, Libertad Chapter NSDAR recognized the winners of the American History Essay Contest.  The contest was open to all Liberty County students in grades 5 – 8.  The topic this year was, “The Lives of Children During the American Revolution”, with each participant pretending to be a child (real or fictional) living during this time and telling of the war’s impact on his or her life.

This year’s winners were Liberty Middle School 8th grader Mattie Beasley, daughter of Cammie and Dwight Beasley;  Liberty Middle School 7th grader Katelyn Mealer, and Liberty Elementary School 5th grader Juliana Mealer, daughters of Tracy and Jonathan Mealer.  The three winners read their essays and were presented a medal, certificate and a gift certificate.  After the recognition, the students enjoyed refreshments and a chance to visit with Libertad Chapter members and guests.
