Comp Time at LCSO

LIBERTY, November 19, 2014  - A problem has surfaced at a recent County Commissioners Meeting concerning accumulated Comp Time among the employees of the LCSO. Comp time is something that must be managed to keep the amount of accumulated Comp Time to a minimum. Accumulated Comp Time by LCSO employees represents a liability to the county and must be managed by the Sheriff. The county must pay for accumulated Comp Time when the employee leaves the employment of the LCSO and such was the case with employee Christopher Wolf at the Commissioners Court meeting of November 12, 2014.

Christopher Wolf received $13,431.66 in accumulated Comp, Holiday and Flex Time approved by Commissioners Court.

This is one of those sleeping problems that goes unseen that directly points to the management of the Sheriff’s Department until someone leaves and has to be paid.

How bad is the problem at the LCSO? How much accumulated Comp time are we liable for? Nobody knows just how bad it is except for the person who’s supposed to manage the problem, Sheriff Bobby Rader, and he’s not talking.
