Two-Vehicle Accident on FM 1409
DAYTON, April 16, 2014 - Shortly before 5:00 PM a two-vehicle, major accident occurred on FM 1409 near Lover’s Lane.
According to Officer Siebert of the Dayton Police Department a southbound, Chevy Cobalt, experience a mechanical failure that caused it to loose control and cross into the northbound lane of traffic.
A Nissan SUV traveling north took evasive action to avoid the Chevy Cobalt but collided with the distributed passenger side.
Liberty County EMS responded to the scene and transported the driver of the SUV, Marilyn Rocap of Dayton and the passenger in the Chevy to an area hospital.
Luckily a baby in a car seat in the Chevy Cobalt was not injured.
The driver of the Chevy Cobalt was Charles Dennis Cheek of Mont Belvieu.
The northbound lanes of FM 1409 and at times the entire road was blocked to traffic during the investigation and clean up of this accident. The Dayton Volunteer Fire Department managed traffic control during the incident.
