ANAHUAC, July 1, 2014 - Chambers County Sheriff Hawthorne is proud to report that last year, Angela Hale was hired as an evidence technician for the Sheriff’s Office.
Upon checking the inventory of weapons, she came upon a stolen rifle that had been recovered but not picked up by the registered owner. When she tried to contact the owner, Jerry Smith she discovered that he had moved. She finally located Mr. Smith now living in the Baytown area.
Upon speaking with Mr. Smith she was told the rifle was given to him by a close family relative that was now deceased. Mr. Smith contacted and reimbursed his insurance company and arrived at the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office to pick up his rifle that was stolen and still in the original gun case 10 years earlier.
The photo shows Jerry Smith receiving his rifle, a Winslow 30.06 from Sheriff’s Office Evidence Technician; Angela Hale.
