Garage Burns in Raywood Damages Adjacent Home

RAYWOOD, July 1, 2014 - Around 2:15 AM on Tuesday morning a garage fire occurred on Woodson School Road, CR 182, south of FM 160.

Mr. Broussard was in the process of demolishing and burning an old house on his family’s property on Monday and had set the old house on fire to get rid of what remained of it. He and a neighbor watched the fire until after midnight and then retired.

Shortly after 2:00 AM he noticed that an old garage structure adjacent to the old house had caught on fire and was threatening his mother’s house on the opposite side of the garage from where he was demolishing the old house.

His mother’s house sustained heat damage to the vinyl siding on the home as a result of the old garage structure catching on fire.

Firefighters from Hull Daisetta, Hardin and Liberty responded to the blaze.
