Weekend Weather Advisory

LIBERTY, September 11, 2014 – Liberty County Emergency Management Coordinator, Tom Branch, sent in the followng advisory.

The first cold (cool) front of September is on the way, it stalled near Dallas this morning but will push southward Friday and should move into Southeast Texas late Friday. A surge of tropical moisture will move into the region early Friday and will bring showers in along the coast. As the seabreeze spreads inland Friday the showers will transition over to a mix of showers and thunderstorms. Eventually the seabreeze storms may collide with the cold front Friday night across the central and northern areas (highlighted in blue) leading to an increased threat of heavy rain. Widespread rainfall is expected and totals of 1/4 to 1/2" should be commonplace with some isolated amounts of 3-4". The storms will likely continue Saturday morning and may begin to sag southward back into the central and southern areas by Saturday morning with the heavy rain threat shifting southward.
