Major Accident in Liberty
LIBERTY, October 20, 2014 - Shortly after 5:00 PM a three vehicle accident occurred on SH 146 at Ridgewood Grocery that closed SH 146 in both directions for over an hour while the accident was investigate and the injured rescued from their vehicles.
According to Officer Martinez of the City of Liberty Police Department the accident occurred when a southbound white utility truck was attempting a left turn into Ridgewood Grocery and was struck from behind by a red Ford pickup. The force of the collision pushed the utility truck into the northbound lance where it collided head on with a black Chevy traveling north.
The red Ford Truck was driven by Rosemary Montez age 40 of Liberty. THe White utility truck was driven by Walid Bouarar age 30 of Liberty and the Black Chevy was driven by Darlene Alford age 63 of Hull.
Traffic quickly back up in the northbound lanes of SH 146 to by Bypass. Traffic was detoured onto Sand Dune Road to Governor’s Road back to SH 146.
Life Flight landed on SH 146 near the accident scene to transport the drivers of the utility truck and the black chevy to a Houston hospital by air ambulance.
Luckily all the vehicles were insured.
