Accident on SH 146 Claims Life of Baytown Woman
DAYTON, August 28, 2013 - A major accident that took the life of a Baytown woman occurred on SH 146 at FM 1413 south of Dayton on Tuesday evening at 6:10 PM when a Ford F 150 pulled out onto SH 146 heading north from FM 1413 into the path of a southbound Chevy Sonic.
According to Corporal Burleigh of the Dayton Police Department, the Ford 150 was driven by James Ernest Lynn age 64 of Dayton and the Chevy was driven by Gary Dale Yarber age 58 who had his wife, Thelma Yarber age 58 as a passenger, both of Baytown.
Dayton Police investigated the accident and Cpl. Shane Burleigh stated that Gary Yarber was stabilized and prepared for flight by Liberty County EMS prior to Life Flight landing at the scene and transporting him to Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Justice of the Peace Barry Graves pronounced Thelma Yarber of Baytown dead at the scene.
Corporal Burleigh described the accident as a near head on collision.
The Dayton Volunteer Fire Department assisted with manning the landing zone, traffic control and wash down of the roadway clearing it of debris.
Liberty County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with traffic control.
Some of the southbound lanes of SH 146 were closed to traffic for two hours during the investigation and clean up of this accident.
