Man Found Dead in Cab of Truck

MOSS HILL, February 13, 2013 - At approximately 12:33pm on Wednesday, the Liberty County Sheriff's Department responded to a call at the Fitzpac Grocery parking lot located at Hwy. 105 and Hwy. 146 in mid-Liberty County regarding a truck driver who was found slumped over the steering wheel of the "box truck" he was driving. 

According to Captain Ken DeFoor, Sgt. Investigator Brian Bortz talked to the witness who found the driver and attempted to assist him by stepping up into the truck which was still running and in gear. Medical assistance was summoned to the scene but the truck driver was deceased upon their arrival.

The truck driver was driving a Penski Rental Truck and identified as Walter Williams III age 49 of Houston. Williams according to family members who spoke with investigators Williams had an extensive medical history and his death came as no surprise.

Justice of the Peace Cody Parrish conducted the inquest at the scene. No autopsy was ordered.

According to Captain Ken DeFoor there was medical paraphernalia found in the cab of the truck and Williams appeared to have pulled over to give himself a breathing treatment when he expired. It appears the Williams died of natural causes. The truck was empty and not hauling a load.
The Sheriff's Department is continuing the investigation at this time.
