Accident on US 90 near B J Ford
LIBERTY, July 20, 2013 - Around 5:00 PM on Friday an accident occurred that closed US 90 to traffic in both directions that was the result of a Ford Fusion pulling out of the private drive of B J Ford while eastbound traffic yielded, so that the Ford could make left turn and travel west back to Liberty. Although eastbound traffic yielded as the Ford pulled into the westbound lane it was truck in the front passenger side by a westbound Mini Cooper driven by a woman from out of the area.
The force of the collision sent the Mini Cooper in to the ditch adjacent to the rail road tracks which follow US 90 through Liberty and the Ford sedan spun around and came to rest disabled in the center of the roadway.
Traffic closed in both directions began to build long lines of stopped vehicles at that time of day.
According to Police, the driver of the Ford was Thomas Wells age 18 of Daisetta who was issued a citation.
Both vehicles were insured and luckily no one was injured.
