Driver Arrested after Major Accident

DAYTON, December 27, 2013 - Around 7:30 PM on Friday a train was crossing US 90 at Waco Street and eastbound traffic on US 90 had come to a hault waiting for the train.

While cars waited a silver Ford Crown Victoria passed waiting vehicles on the improved center median side swiping two cars, pushing one into an 18 wheeler loaded with pipe and crashing into the far right lane of the highway.

The first car struck was a maroon Toyota carrying a family coming to the area for a funeral consisting of four occupants who were brothers and sisters. One of the occupants was transported to the hospital by Liberty County EMS ambulance.

The second car that was struck was a black Hyundai carrying a husband, wife and two children.

The driver of the silver Ford Crown Victoria was a local woman, Crystal Webb age 32 of Dayton.

The Dayton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to assist in the rescue of the accident victim and manage traffic control during the investigation and clean up of the accident.

Crystal Webb was arrested for DWI and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
