Creative Theft Foiled at Wal-Mart

LIBERTY, September 10, 2013 – Rather than shoplift items at the store this man thought of perhaps a more clever way to get out of the store with money.

On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, responding to a call from Wal-Mart, Liberty Police arrived to investigate the false return of merchandise to the store for a refund.

According to Detective Jennifer Bowles, A man walked into the store and picked up two items from the shelves and attempted to return them providing a receipt for the items to the clerk where upon he was given $74.50 in cash.

As he exited the store the man identified as Waylon Donald age 24 of Anahuac was stopped.

Waylon was taken into custody by Liberty Police, charged with Theft and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
