Update on Missing Tax Office Money

LIBERTY, July 2, 2013 – You may recall that in August of 2012 it was first widely reported that approximately $18,000 dollars was missing from the Liberty Office of Ricky Brown’s Liberty County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office in the Liberty County Courthouse. The money consisted of a bank deposit that was tallied in the Tax Office but that was never deposited in the bank.

Today Captain Ken DeFoor told i-dineout.com that during the almost year long investigation by the Sheriff’s Department investigators developed a person of interest and a polygraph test was administered which the person failed. The matter was taken in front of the Grand Jury for possible indictment, however, the Grand Jury No Billed the person failing to indict them for the crime.

Furthermore, DeFoor told i-dineout.com late last week that as of a month ago there were no suspects in the case.
