Man Tasered in Layl Subdivision

LIBERTY, December 10, 2013 - In the early evening hours of Tuesday, December 3, 2013 Liberty Police were summoned to the 500 block of Layl Drive in Liberty for a man who was jumping into the ditch when passing vehicles approached.

As the Officer approached the man, the man dove into the ditch and threw an open knife onto the ground according to Detective Jennifer Bowles.

The Officer asked the man to walk towards the patrol car and realized the man was under the influence of something due to his actions.

The man was identified as Henry Carl Williams age 39 of the Westwood subdivision off FM 563 in Liberty.

Williams did not comply with the Officers instructions and Williams was placed in hand cuffs. Williams refused to walk back to the patrol vehicle and attempted to pull away from the Officer. The Officer deployed his taser that had no affect on Williams. A Liberty County Constable arrived and assisted the Officer.

Williams was transported to the hospital to be medically cleared by ambulance.

Found on Williams was a clear plastic bag containing a crystal like substance. Williams was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
