Storm System Approaching Saturday

LIBERTY, December 20, 2013 - A strong storm system will approach from the west on Saturday. We expect scattered storms early in the day, likely transitioning into a line of storms by mid-day, along a surface trough (the cold air will arrive on Sunday with the main cold front). The line of storms will move from west to east across southeast Texas during the day. The main severe weather threat window across southeast Texas is from 8 AM to 3 PM, with the main weather threats being isolated tornadoes and damaging wind gusts.

See the attached graphic for the risk area and severe weather probability. Although all of southeast Texas is in the slight risk area, the highest probability of severe weather across southeast Texas is generally along and northeast of a Galveston to Houston to College Station line. Note: a moderate risk area is shown across parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and extreme western Tennessee, for those who may be traveling east or northeast.
