House Destroyed by Fire in Liberty

LIBERTY, January 5, 2013 - The City of Liberty Fire Department was pressed into service at 1:36 AM on Saturday morning to fight a house fire at 2519 Webster Street, between Kentucky and Texas Ave.

 

The owner of the home, according to records, is Ben Smith a life long resident of Liberty and it was occupied by a Hispanic family.

According to records the house was originally built in 1940.

The fire appeared to spread quickly and the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department was summoned to assist in fighting the blaze.

At the time of the fire the temperature was 43 degrees and it was lightly raining.

Initial reports from neighbors and friends indicate that only part of the extended family was at home at the time of the fire and all got out safely.

The house was completely destroyed.
