Robbery at Red's Cafe
MOSS HILL, April 22, 2013 - An early morning robbery at Red’s Café located at 16598 FM 146 North, sent several Sheriff’s Deputies responding to the call at approximately 5:35am this morning. The owner was preparing to open the door of the business when an unknown subject grabbed her and threw her to the ground while at the same time forcing her purse from her hands. After grabbing the owner’s purse which contained an unknown amount of money and the owner’s personal .38 caliber hand gun, the robbery suspect ran in an unknown direction from the café and no escape vehicle was seen by the owner.
The robbery suspect was described as a male, 5’-9” and wearing all black clothing including a black “hoodie”. No firearm was displayed by the suspect.
The owner was treated at the scene by the Liberty County EMS medical team and then transported, non- emergency, to the Liberty Dayton Hospital for further medical evaluation for her injuries. Hospital staff determined that the owner a woman in her seventies suffered a broken pelvis, broken finger and a possible broken hip.
