Theft at Quikrete in Raywood

RAYWOOD August 12, 2013 - On the afternoon of Saturday, August 10, 2013, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to a report of a possible theft in progress at Quikrete on U.S. 90 in Raywood. Quikrete is a concrete manufacturing facility which had recently experienced thefts involving the wooden pallets the company uses to ship their products. An employee driving past the facility on Hwy. 90 saw a suspicious 1-ton flatbed truck on the property and a man loading pallets onto the truck. The employee called his supervisor, who confirmed that no one was supposed to be on the property. The supervisor called LCSO, which dispatched a patrol deputy.

Deputy William Candelari arrived at Quikrete at 3:28 p.m., approximately four minutes after he received the call. Deputy Candelari detained a man that had 54 wooden pallets loaded on the back of a flatbed truck. The subject initially said he had permission from the company to be removing the pallets. But the Quikrete supervisor had also responded to the scene and assured Candelari that neither the subject being detained, nor anyone else had permission to remove the pallets.

Deputy Candelari arrested the subject and transported him to the County Jail without incident. At the jail, Frederick Paul Dauteruve, 54, of Houston, was booked-in for the offense of Theft of Property, a Class A Misdemeanor. There was also a hold placed on Dauteruve for an outstanding traffic warrant from Pearland P.D. Justice of the Peace Stephen Hebert set bond on Dauteruve at $3000. He subsequently posted bond on Sunday, August 11th.

Deputy Candelari was assisted on scene by Texas Highway Patrol Troopers Cory Davis and Christopher Cash, and Special Ranger Jimmy Belt. LCSO will be investigating further to determine if Frederick Dauteruve was involved in the other recent thefts at the Quikrete facility. If so, the offenses could be consolidated into an offense with a higher charge and punishment.
