Man Accused of Theft on Christmas Eve

LIBERTY, January 7, 2014 - On Christmas Eve Wal-Mart employees notified the Liberty Police Department that a man was observed passing the point of sale without paying for merchandise in his possession and who ran from the store across the parking lot headed for the wooded area adjacent to the SH 146 Bypass in front of the store.

Officers arrived at the store and found James Pennington in the woods still having the merchandise he was accused of stealing in his possession and the merchandise was recovered.

Pennington is 25 years old of Baytown, TX. He was accused of taking a camo jacket, gloves and CO2 inflator valued at $91.41.

Pennington was arrested, charged with Theft and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
