Former County Judge Candidate Arrested

LIBERTY, October 18, 2013 - A warrant for the Arrest of Kenneth Morrison, former candidate for Liberty County Judge, of Liberty County was served by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon out of Dickinson Police Department.

The warrant stems from an incident involving Morrison at P W Distributing at 5205 East FM 517, Dickinson, TX on September 12, 2011 that was reported the same day around 10:06 AM.

The victim in this case is Kenneth Stafford who is reported to be a cabinet maker that was involved with the construction of Morrison's home who was assaulted with a firearm allegedly by Morrison during a confrontation at his business.

Deputies with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department went to Morrison’s home at  3:30 AM on Wednesday morning and arrested Morrison on the outstanding warrant.

Bond was set at $40,000 and Justice of the Peace Stephen Hebert magistrated Morrison who is currently out of jail on bond.

Morrison was a candidate for Liberty County Judge in November of 2010 having beat one-term incumbent County Judge Phil Fitzgerald in the primary earlier that year.

Morrison announced about two weeks ago at a Republican Party meeting in Dayton that he was thinking about running for County Judge as a Republican according to those attending the meeting.
