Meth Lab Raid in Hardin
HARDIN, April 26, 2013 - Acting upon information gained from a previous drug investigation, the Liberty County Sheriff’s narcotics division secured a search warrant out of Judge Chap Cain’s 253rd District Court for the locations of both #255 and #257 of CR 2065 in the north portion of the county. At approximately 10:30am, the warrant was executed by entering the location of #255 first which resulted in the recovery of several bags of methamphetamine, digital scales, needles and other drug paraphernalia.
Arrested at this location was David Rives age 27 which has a criminal record. Also found at this location was what appeared to be an explosive devise of wires connected to a pipe and wrapped with tape. Agents vacated the location and called on the Baytown Police Department Bomb Squad to come to the scene and dispose of the devise. The devise was exploded by the bomb squad with no injuries.
After clearing the explosive devise the second location of #257 was entered and a full functioning meth lab was found. Drug paraphernalia was found throughout the building indicating the lab was, in fact, productive. D.P.S. entered the lab and disposed of the elements in a safe manner.
One of the lead agents stated that when several of the area vehicles passed the location and saw the police activity, the vehicles stopped and the occupants applauded the agents for what they were doing as this location has been a source of concern by the law abiding citizens for a while. It is now been shut down and the occupant arrested and charged.
David Rives was charged with Manufacturing & Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance and placed in the Liberty County jail, No bond has been set as of this writing.
