DWI Crash on North Main Street
LIBERTY, November 22, 2013 - Liberty Police responded to North Main Street between Maple and Marshall, across from the Chinese Wok, for a one-vehicle accident shortly before 8:00 PM on Thursday night.
Investigating Officer Ries recognized the vehicle and the driver noticing the strong smell of alcohol when he approached the Ford Freestyle from his previous encounter with the driver on October 15, 2013, when he was arrested for DWI 3rd or more offense.
On October 15, 2013, a City of Liberty Police Officer noticed a vehicle speeding in the 2500 block of Jefferson Drive just before 3:00 PM in a School Zone. Officers followed the vehicle that pulled over in the 2500 block of Jefferson that was driven by Randy McCarty. Officers requested to see McCarty’s driver’s License and insurance card and McCarty could not find them. McCarty was unable to perform the standard Field Sobriety Texas because he was unable to follow the instructions. He was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
According to Officer Ries the vehicle drove from the Chinese Wok across North Main Street Thursday night and into the ditch on the west of the street where the air bags in the vehicle deployed. Luckily there were no injuries.
