Man Arrested for Stealing Sandwich and Cup of Coffee

DAYTON, September 13, 2013 - In May of this year Dayton PD responded to a call at the Shell station (formerly the KP across from Brookshire Brothers) located at 306 Hwy 90 in reference to a theft.

After speaking with the clerk, it was advised that she watched the man eating a sandwich from the cooler, and that he drank a cup of coffee, and that after he finished it, he stated he didn't have any money, but was hungry and that he had no intention of paying for the coffee and sandwich.

Officers arrived and spoke with the suspect identified as Leslie Lovett age 25 of Dayton.

Lovett was then issued a class "C" theft citation, also a criminal trespass warning was given at that time not to come back on the property. Apparently Leslie didn’t have the money to pay for the citation issued, and a warrant was issued for both the failure to appear, and for the class "C" theft.

He was later found on September 6th, picked up by Dayton officers and was placed in Liberty County jail.
