Four Year Old Child Run Over by Car
LIBERTY, August 28, 2013 - At approximately 8:07 PM Tuesay, the Dayton Police Department called the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department advising that a small four (4) year old female child had been brought to their police station by her father after the child had been run over by a car at her home.
Deputy James Hobson responded to the call where an ambulance was called and transported the child to the Dayton helipad where she was further transported by Life Flight to Herman Hospital, in Houston, in unknown condition.
Deputy Hobson went to the scene located at 217 CR 604 just West of Dayton off Hwy. 90 where he conducted further investigation. It appears that a twelve (12) year old daughter of the family was driving a 2006 Chevrolet car from their house to the barn to do some work about 40 feet away. As she did so, her four (4) year old sister as well as other children began to play around the car. The 12 year old told the younger children to get back away from the car which she thought they had done before she started driving towards the barn all of which was on private property.
When the older girl stopped the car and got out she heard the other children screaming and yelling. She ran around the car and found her 4 year old sister pinned under one of the tires of the vehicle. Deputy Hobson advised that it appears, at this time, that most of the injury was below the right hip bone area of her body. It was at this time, the father picked up his young daughter and drove to the Dayton Police Station where she was later transported by Life Flight to Herman Hospital with undetermined injuries.
At this time no type of charges are anticipated but the investigation is continuing by the Sheriff’s Department.
