Alleged Midday Shoplifter Caught at Wal-Mart

LIBERTY, August 5, 2013 – City of Liberty Police were summoned to the Wal-Mart shortly after 11:00 AM on Monday as store personnel had an alleged shoplifter detained in store.

Officer Kenneth Taylor of the City of Liberty Police Department responded to the call and investigated the alleged claim.

According to Officer Taylor, Teresa Irby age 56 of Daisetta passed the point of sale and exited the store without paying for 3 cases of beer, 20 lbs. of dog food and a 24 pack of Coke-a-Cola.

Upon investigation Office Taylor learned that Irby in fact had no money, no credit cards and no way of paying for any purchase she may have made in the store.

Irby was placed under arrest for organized retail theft and transported by Officer Taylor to the Liberty County Jail.

Should Irby have a previous criminal record for similar criminal behavior the charges may be escalated.
