HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

LIBERTY, August 25, 2013 - TODAY AND TONIGHT PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 10 AND THE OFFSHORE WATERS AS A WEAK TROPICAL WAVE MOVES INTO THE REGION. TRAINING CELLS COULD PRODUCE A LOCALIZED FEW INCHES OF RAIN.

CLOSER TO THE COAST AND OFFSHORE...WINDS AND SEAS WILL BE HIGHER IN AND NEAR STORMS. IN ADDITION TO THE PRECIPITATION...EAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 20 KNOTS AND DRIVE TIDE LEVELS CLOSE TO 1.5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL. COASTAL FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED BUT WATER WILL COVER A GOOD PORTION OF AREA BEACHES AROUND HIGH TIDE LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. CURRENTS MOVING EAST TO WEST MAY ALSO BE STRONGER THAN NORMAL. IF AT THE BEACH...STAY SAFE AND SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD.

SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MIDDAY TUESDAY IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE PASSING TROPICAL WAVE. WINDS AND SEAS WILL BE HIGHER IN AND NEAR STORMS. OTHERWISE...NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
