HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

LIBERTY, July 8, 2013 - TODAY AND TONIGHT A FEW ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. SOME OF THE STRONGER STORMS MAY PRODUCE GUSTY WINDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH AND SOME SMALL HAIL. BRIEF HEAVY RAINFALL WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE AND DUE TO SLOW STORM MOTIONS...AN INCH OF RAIN MAY FALL VERY QUICKLY. FREQUENT LIGHTNING WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY THE STORMS.

SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY A TROPICAL DISTURBANCE AND DEEPER MOISTURE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE UPPER TEXAS COAST SUNDAY MORNING. THIS WILL BRING A CHANCE OF NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS DURING THE DAY SUNDAY. THE MAIN IMPACTS WILL BE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL WITH MOST AREAS SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 10 GETTING AT LEAST AN INCH OF RAIN WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS. THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL PERSIST INTO MONDAY AND TUESDAY AS TROPICAL MOISTURE LINGERS OVER THE AREA. WINDS IN OFFSHORE AREAS WILL ALSO INCREASE ON SUNDAY. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR BUILDING SEAS WHICH COULD BECOME ROUGH...ELEVATED TIDE LEVELS AND AN INCREASED THREAT FOR RIP CURRENTS ALONG BEACHES. THE TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IS NOT EXPECTED TO DEVELOP INTO A TROPICAL CYCLONE AT THIS TIME BUT WILL BE CLOSELY MONITORED.
