HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

LIBERTY, May 31, 2013 - TODAY AND TONIGHT SHOWERS WILL BE POSSIBLE TODAY AND GIVEN THE MOIST TROPICAL AIR MASS...SOME SHOWERS MAY PRODUCE BRIEF SHORT LIVED FUNNEL CLOUDS ALONG THE COAST. IN RARE CASES THE FUNNEL CLOUD MAY EXTEND TO THE SURFACE BECOMING A WEAK TORNADO OR WATERSPOUT IF THE FUNNEL FORMS OVER THE BAYS.

STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL STILL SUPPORT AN ELEVATED RISK OF RIP
CURRENTS ALONG COASTAL BEACHES. BEACH GOERS SHOULD SWIM IN
DESIGNATED AREAS AND IN AREAS WITH LIFE GUARDS.

SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY A FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL SLOWLY MOVE INTO SOUTHEAST TEXAS ON SUNDAY. THERE IS A CHANCE FOR SOME STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS ALONG THE FRONT MAINLY DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THE STORMS WILL BE SLOW MOVING AS THE FRONT STALLS ACROSS THE AREA AND MAY ALSO PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL WHICH COULD LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING ESPECIALLY IN URBANIZED AREAS. THE MAIN THREAT FOR STORMS WILL BE GENERALLY ALONG INTERSTATE 10 ACROSS THE HOUSTON METRO AREA BUT LARGELY DEPENDS ON WHERE THE FRONT STALLS.
