HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

LIBERTY, February 24, 2013 - MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA ON MONDAY MORNING. SOME STORMS ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONT COULD HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME STRONG OR SEVERE. THE MAIN THREATS WILL BE DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS AND SMALL HAIL. THE SEVERE THREAT SHOULD MOVE EAST OUT OF THE AREA MONDAY AFTERNOON.

BEHIND THE FRONT...STRONG AND VERY GUSTY WINDS ARE EXPECTED. WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS NEAR 40 MPH ARE POSSIBLE AND A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 7 PM MONDAY. THE WINDS ALONG WITH A VERY DRY AIRMASS ALSO INCREASE THE WILD FIRE DANGER. A RED FLAG WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE GUSTY WINDS COMBINED WITH HUMIDITY LEVELS DROPPING TO AROUND 20 PERCENT IN THE AFTERNOON. WITH THESE CONDITIONS ANY FIRES THAT DO DEVELOP COULD GROW RAPIDLY AND OUT OF CONTROL.

COLDER TEMPERATURES ARE ANTICIPATED TOWARD THE END OF THE WEEK...AND INLAND LOW TEMPERATURES ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY MORNINGS COULD BE NEAR FREEZING.
