HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

LIBERTY, October 13, 2013 - TODAY AND TONIGHT PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS THIS MORNING. THERE WILL BE A BRIEF RESPITE AND THEN ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL REDEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON. SOME OF THE STORMS WILL PRODUCE VERY HEAVY RAIN AND THIS HAS ALREADY OCCURRED IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS YESTERDAY AND EARLY THIS MORNING. PARTS OF SAN JACINTO AND POLK COUNTIES RECEIVED BETWEEN 5 AND 6 INCHES OF RAIN ON SATURDAY. PARTS OF BRAZOS AND MADISON COUNTIES RECEIVED OVER 4 INCHES OF RAIN THIS MORNING. THE BEST POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAIN WILL LIE NORTHWEST OF A COLUMBUS TO CONROE TO TRINITY LINE BUT CELL MERGERS AND TRAINING OF STORMS COULD YIELD HEAVIER RAINFALL TOTALS ALMOST ANYWHERE ACROSS THE COUNTY WARNING AREA. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL AVERAGE BETWEEN 0.25 AND 0.50 INCHES NEAR THE COAST AND BETWEEN 0.50 AND 1.50 INCHES WELL INLAND. ISOLATED TOTALS COULD EXCEED 4 INCHES IN A FEW SPOTS.

MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY DRIER WEATHER IS EXPECTED MONDAY INTO TUESDAY. A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL CROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS ON WEDNESDAY AND SIGNIFICANTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL ACCOMPANY THE FRONT BUT NO SEVERE WEATHER IS ANTICIPATED WITH THE FRONT. ANOTHER UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM WILL APPROACH FROM THE WEST ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY BRINGING ANOTHER CHANCE OF RAIN TO THE REGION.
