According to City Manager Gary Broz, the new station was designed to complement in the exterior design of the fire station next to the new station.

The new police station has been a long time in coming since the old police station on San Jacinto Street was destroyed by Hurricane Ike some five years ago and Liberty Police have been housed in temporary buildings since that time.

Broz further stated that the new facility will cost about 2.6 million dollars, 1.5 million coming from a disaster grant and PGAL Architects designed the building.

The facility will take about one year to construct.
