Pickup Collides with Disabled Vehicle

LIBERTY, August 29, 2013 - Thursday afternoon Officer Ries of the City of Liberty Police Department investigated a major accident in the 200 block of Highway 90 in the river bottom just inside the city limits of Liberty.

Little is known about the cause of the accident due to the condition of the driver of Ford pickup that drove onto the shoulder and struck a parked disabled Ford sedan.

The disabled vehicle had been parked partially on the improved shoulder and partially on the grass since at least yesterday evening.

The driver of the Ford pickup was a man from Dayton who was transported by Liberty County EMS from the scene.

According to Officer Ries there exists no apparent connection between the driver of the pickup and the disabled vehicle and little is known about how the accident happened or why since the driver of the Ford pickup was not able to be interviewed at the time of the crash.

The investigation into the accident is continuing by the City of Liberty Police Department.
