Man Dies in Fatal Accident on US 90 Dayton
DAYTON, April 29, 2013 – According to Investigator Doug O’Quinn with the Dayton Police Department a family accompanied by a friend were returning to their home in Silsbee, TX from Crosby where they had been riding four wheelers over the weekend when the driver of the pickup they were riding in lost control and rolled over on US 90 just east of FM 1413 at 9:55 PM Sunday night.
The pickup was occupied by four family members and a friend, three adults and two children.
As the truck rolled over the friend of the family and back seat passenger who was not secured with a seat belt was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. He was identified as Charles Ray Mitchell, Jr. age 29 of Silsbee.
The driver of the vehicle was Luis Edward Mosby, Jr. age 35 of Silsbee.
Liberty County EMS transported the four individuals who survived the accident to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
Traffic was light and weather and road conditions were good at the time of the accident. At this point in the investigation little is known about why the driver lost control of the vehicle that was pulling a trailer loaded with three four wheeler.
Investigator O’Quinn and the Dayton Police Department were assisted by the Department of Public Safety, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department and the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing focusing on numerous factors they may have lead to the cause of this accident including alcohol.
According to O’Quinn, additional charges may come out of this accident pending the completion of the department’s investigation.
