DAYTON, October 29, 2013 - The Dayton Police Deparmtent investigated the following cases last week in Dayton.
DAYTON, October 22, 2013 - On October 22, 2013 the City of Dayton Police Department was called to investigate and sexual assault of a child at an Apartment complex in Dayton after one of the children involved made an outcry at the Kimmey Brown School. The 10 year old male and 13 year old female were step siblings. Bridgehaven Children’s Advocacy Center was notified and conducted forensic interviews. CPS was notified as was Liberty County Juvenile Probation and the Liberty County Attorney’s Office.
DAYTON, October 22, 2013 - On October 22, 2013 Officer Moon with the Dayton Police Department observed a vehicle failing to yield to an emergency vehicle an initiate a traffic stop on FM 1960. The vehicle pulled into the Westside Chevron Station and the officer noticed the strong smell of marijuana when he approached the vehicle. After receiving consent to search the vehicle, Officers found Marijuana and Methamphetamine in the vehicle.
The driver, Mickey Lee Mcelhaney age 28 was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and the passenger in the vehicle, Timothy Allen Grant age 24 was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, both of Dayton. They were both arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
DAYTON, October 17, 2013 - On October 17, 2013 Dayton Police diffused a potentially dangerous situation when they stopped an erratically driven vehicle on FM 1008. It turned out the vehicle was driven by a elderly man from Beaumont who suffered from Alzheimer’s and had left church and did not come home. About 6 to 7 hours had transpired since the man went missing in Beaumont and was reported. Dayton Police advise that you should place emergency contact phone numbers in different parts of the vehicle to assist in reuniting lost people with their families.
