Stranger Danger Alert by LCSO
DAYTON, October 10, 2013 - At approximately 6:40 AM on Tuesday morning, October 8th, Deputy Justin Johnston responded to what could best be described as a “Stranger Danger” call regarding a suspicious man trying to pick up a fourteen (14) year old female at a Dayton school bus stop on the pretext of taking her to school.
The 14 year old student was waiting for the school bus at the corner of Hwy. 321 and Private Road 684, just north of the City of Dayton, with another girl but due to the fact that school bus runs on an irregular time basis, according to the mother of the 14 year old student, the mother of the other girl drove her daughter to school leaving only the 14 year old girl alone at the bus stop. According to Deputy Johnston, the student said shortly after the other girl left the bus stop, a man described by the young student as “…. A “creepy” guy, driving a small white car pulled up to the bus stop and said that he would take me to school….”. The description followed as the subject being a white male, age unknown, wearing a red checkered shirt tucked into his blue jeans, brown hair and a mustache. The subject LIMPS and that is the reason the student said he could not catch her when she screamed and began to run from his car. The man attempted to run after her but due to his limp, she was able to outrun him according to the Dayton school student.
Due to some circumstances of the call, a follow up was conducted to assure that all the facts were as first described but it does appear this is a confirmed case.
Sheriff Bobby Rader is asking that all parents and students be EXTREMELY aware of this potentially dangerous situation and to watch for and report any unusual similar events to this Sheriff’s Department or your local city police department. Sheriff Rader is also asking that if anyone has any information on the man described in this press release to call the Sheriff’s Department at (936) 336-4500 and report it.
