Driver Arrested for Possession on San Jacinto Street

LIBERTY, October 16, 2013 - Shortly after 7:00 PM on Tuesday night, Officer Frank Longoria with the City of Liberty Police Department was leaving the Liberty County Jail in the 2400 block of Beaumont Ave. when he observed a White Chevy Tahoe matching the description of a vehicle connected to several thefts at the Liberty Wal-Mart as well as one involved with a call Officer Longoria had Monday night traveling west on Beaumont Ave.

According to Officer Longoria he got behind the vehicle and it took off making a right turn on San Jacinto Street and immediately pulling into the circle drive of the residence in the 400 block of San Jacinto at the corner of San Jacinto and Beaumont Ave.

Longoria pulled in behind the vehicle and approached the driver who claimed he had pulled into the driveway of the home because the homeowners used to give him scrap metal for recycling.

Officer Reis stopped by to assist in the investigation of the incident.

The driver of the Chevy Tahoe was Rodney Burnett age 34 of Liberty who turned out to have outstanding warrants out of Harris County and one for Organized Criminal Activity out of Liberty.

Burnett was taken into custody on the outstanding warrants and his female passenger Diana Lowe age 28 of Wallisville gave officers consent to search the vehicle whereupon a loaded syringe was located in the glove box that tested positive for methamphetamine as well as two used syringes and a spoon with drug residue according to Officer Longoria.

Burnett was further charged with Driving While License Invalid and Possession of a Controlled Substance a State Jail Felony and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

The White Chevy Tahoe is registered to Megan Palmer of Anahuac, TX according to Public Records.
