Multiple Burglaries Cleared by Arrest of James Lee Parker

PORT ARTHUR August 15, 2013 - Liberty County: On Saturday evening, August 10th, at around 7:pm a long string of burglaries and thefts came to an end for several jurisdictions when Port Arthur police spotted a stolen white 2005 Ford, 4 dr. pickup truck wanted in these offenses and a high speed chase ensued. When the chase was over, James Lee Parker, age 62 ( DOB 1-1-51) and a resident of the Port Arthur area was in custody.  Burglary tools were found in the stolen truck from Calcasieu Parrish, Louisiana that Parker was driving.

This effort to locate and arrest Parker was the result of a joint meeting held earlier in the week with Investigators from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, Chambers County Sheriff’s Department, Hardin County Sheriff’s Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the Port Arthur Police Department. All agencies had several reported burglaries and theft involving a truck of this description and follow up investigations from the various agencies had developed James Parker as the suspect.

Many hours of intense investigation by Liberty County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Investigator Kenny Dagle with assistance from Special Ranger Jimmy Belt resulted in security camera photos of the suspected truck leaving the scene of burglaries in Liberty County where mechanic tools, a compressor, power washer, a light plant, an ATV and other assorted property had been stolen from local businesses.

Although investigations are continuing from all the law enforcement agencies involved, at this time it appears that Sgt. Dagle and Special Ranger Belt will be seeking warrants and clearing at least three (3) burglaries and thefts in this county, Chambers County may clear as many as six (6) cases, Hardin County should clear two (2) cases  and Calcasieu Parrish, Louisiana, that already had theft warrants out on Parker will file the additional charge of the stolen truck on him along with the Port Arthur Police Department charges of Felony Evading Arrest for running from their Officer.

Sgt. Dagle reported that James Lee Parker was released on parole in March 2013 and has at least thirty-eight (38) various convictions to his credit over the past years. Presently Parker is housed in the Jefferson County jail. No information on his bond, at this time, is known by this department.

Sgt. Dagle requested that if any other law enforcement agency has cases similar to those Parker was arrested for or if any citizen has additional information on similar cases they are asked to call Sgt. Dagle at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, (936) 336-4500 or their respective law enforcement agencies in their area.
