Forensic Anthropology report of “bones”

LIBERTY August 15, 2013 - The Liberty County Sheriff’s Department has received a PRELIMINARY report back from the “Center of Human Identification” laboratory of forensic anthropology of the University of North Texas regarding their analysis of the human remains ( bones ) found by the Sheriff’s Department and Texas EquuSearch in the vicinity of Hwy. 59 and CR 322 in Liberty County on April 12 & 13, 2013.

Lead Investigator Sgt. Paul Lasco was advised by the lab that although the DNA analysis will not be completed for another four (4) to six (6) weeks, that examination of the skeletal bones CONFIRM, through dental records, that the remains are NOT the remains of Rodney Aaron Stokley, white male, 19 years old who has been reported missing since January 21, 2008.

The Forensic Lab quoted the following regarding the remains that were recovered by searchers……..

ANCESTRY: The decedent would have been identified in life as “Hispanic”, “Latino” or similar popular descriptor.

Sex: The sex is male.
SKELETAL AGE: The decedent is a late adolescent. The recommended age range is 15.5 to 20 years old.

STATURE:  A conservative stature range of height is estimated to be 63.5 to 67 inches.

POSSIBLE TRAUMA: There are no indications of disease or trauma which might be useful in the identification of the decedent. Such indicators may have been obscured or destroyed by scavenging of wild life over a long period of time in the woods.

Both the Sheriff’s Department as well as Texas EquuSearch have checked all their past missing person cases on file and neither have found any case where the above descriptors fit any of their reported cases. Sgt. Lasco has sent out the available forensic information to all law enforcement agencies in order to determine if any other agency has a case(s) that might match up with these descriptors. Thus far there has been no positive response from other agencies.

Sheriff Bobby Rader stressed that this case is a high priority investigation and all efforts will continue to identify the remains and locate the person or persons responsible for this act. Anyone who may have information as to the identification of the deceased is ask to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department at (936) 336-4500 and leave your information for lead Investigator, Sgt. Paul Lasco. Your identification will remain confidential.

EXCLUSION: Again, this PRELIMINARY analysis EXCLUDES Rodney Aaron Stokley due to the many inconsistencies in the skeletal remains.
