City Wide Black Out Coming December 14th
LIBERTY, December 4, 2013 – What we now know about the upcoming black out in the City of Liberty to perform work on the substation supplying Boomerang Tube with power is that the power in the City of Liberty will go off on December 14, 2013 around 11:00 PM and will remain off until about 6:00 AM on Sunday, December 15th.
City manager Gary Broz assured those in attendance at a press conference Tuesday afternoon that the City’s water supply and water pressure should be adequate to get through the power outage.
It is now thought that the outage will only affect the City of Liberty, however, at the this late date it is not known if surrounding communities such as Ames will be affect. City Officials are working to answer this question.
At the same time the outage is going on repairs will be made to utility poles near the intersection of Main and Grand Ave. that were damaged due to an auto accident about a month ago.
Pay attention to long range weather forecasts should the weather on September 14th turn off cold. If you rely on electricity for heat you could be without heat for about seven hours.
According to Broz the only thing that could delay or postpone the work would be lightening.
It is thought that Wal-Mart will be closed for the power outage.
All citizens with special needs are encouraged to contact the Liberty City Hall with your special concerns as soon as possible.
