Lower Trinity Valley Bird Club Meets March 9th
LIBERTY, February 28, 2013 - The March meeting of the LOWER TRINITY VALLEY BIRD CLUB will be held on, Saturday, March. 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at The FLNB Corner (1822 Sam Houston Av, Liberty, TX) across for the First Liberty National Bank. Directions: from Hwy. 90, turn north on Travis St. (between Kentucky Fried Chicken and Whataburger), cross over the railroad tracks- The FLNB Corner is at the intersection of Sam Houston Av. and Travis St. Be sure to come early at 9:30 a.m. for our “Birder’s Chat” time. Our March presentation will be: “Ruby-throated Hummingbirds- How to identify, attract, and feed our local hummingbird.”
Gary Holmes will cover myths and facts about these beautiful little birds including hummingbird migration and their life history. Our amazing hummingbirds have a heart rate of over 1,200 beats per minute, weigh only 5 grams, and thrill us with their miraculous flight. The presentation will include interesting video clips of hummers in flight and nesting hummers.
Kathie Holder and the LTVBC members will share their experiences in attracting and feeding Hummingbirds. We will have a question and answer session over feeders and feeding solutions.
This is community event to share information concerning one of our most amazing birds - bring your questions and your favorite hummingbird story along with a friend.
